    Your Sales Letter

     This is where you got to pay special attention. Your sales letter is what will get your customers to buy from you. Do not go any further into advertising if you haven't got a decent sales letter!

      Basically you will have to answer one big question that is...

"Why should I chose to buy from you over all the other products that are available to me?"

     This is what's called a USP (Unique Selling Proposition). Once yo u have identified this question and expanded on it's meaning, you have to answer making your product the only obvious choice.

     This is where you begin writing your sales letter. Here is the template I use to start my own. Please read through it and after that we'll look into it with more details.

[ask a question that your reader can't say no to based on the advantage of your product]

Here's a little taste of what you get:

  • use bullet points to move your audience
  • make them really compelling
  • by mentioning the advantages of your product
  • and using analogy and examples
  • use an irritable question saying the answer is inside
  • develop on this for as long as needed

[Use a line to break your bullets like ]"Sounds great doesn't it? But wait until you hear about:"

  • this is your second bullet list. This time don't be afraid to develop a little on each and every topic, mentioning all the advantages
  • and asking questions to which the answer is already obvious. Make sure the reader is following you and can keep up. Remember, you must write like you talk, simple and fast. Your reader is pressed for time and won't waste much if what your saying isn't appealing.
  • make these lines longer than what they were on the first list not being afraid to include the occasional short one.
  • use bold to help contrast your text.
  • write as many compelling lines as needed

[another bullet breaker here saying:] "And if you're already crazy about what you've just read then wait until you hear about:"

  • keep listing your products benefits here in a compelling way. Make sure your advantages meet exactly what your target audience wants and more.
  • the deal is, you can just put an outline down when you're writing your sales letter, and then you can come back and improve on it when you learn more about sales copy
  • you can use this template to outline your sales letter and work on it and fine tune it to perfection. The trick is, there already are many sales letters online and you can use them as research and adapt  them to you product.
  • remember to try making small changes and see how they affect your sales.

Right now you can use another bullet breaker but you should develop more on this one.  Use something along the lines of...

Are you getting a picture of the potential of this information?

If you're serious about [whatever it is your product will help achieve], you know this is exactly what you need to help you do it successfully.

  • more mini bullets
  • tell your customer
  • how he can do this or that
  • give examples or testimonials

Use this part to sum up what your product will do and won't do for your readers.

Using a "won't do" is very disarming and can make you look very honest and put you in the lead. Now you should talk about the price and by adding bonuses will make your offer look like a true bargain.

Using a hypnotic line like:

By now you're thinking "I need this information but how much does it cost?"

     All this is tweakable to whatever extent you wish. This has been the basic structure I have used since my initial eBay adventure and it works well.

     I strongly advise you to always make your product look like it is on a promotion at all times. The sense of rush will always generate more sales.

   You sales letter with more detail...

     When writting a sales letter keep this in mind:

  •  make your letter compelling
    Tell a strong story or use whatever means or words you can think of that will keep your reader stuck to your words. Among other hypnotic words, use questions. They seem to keep yoru reader hanging on (my secret).

  •  aim it at the advantages and benefits the buyer will get
    Keep mentioning all the benefits of making a purchase and why he should buy from you.

  •  make it more about the buyer (YOU) than the writer
    You want to get your reader sitting in a chair and have all the work done for him. Make sure there are more You's than I's.

  •  make a call to action
    Having a sales letter and calling to action is a very common mistake.

     

     I do recommend you read other people's sales copy and get inspired by their work. You can learn allot from your competition! Also, be careful not to copy their words as this could put you into violation of copyright.

  

     The best sales letters in the world seem to stick to the following pattern that you should use:

  •  a powerful headline that demands attention
    This is where your Unique Selling Proposition comes into play

  •  arouse interest and create curiosity
    Try a compelling story that will work as a metaphor

  •  reveal details or benefits about your product or service
    Absolutely necessary in order to satisfy the "thirst" you've created

  •  Call for action!
    Don't allow the fish to escape the net.

     Present your sales letter in black text against a white page. Separate your text into small blocks and keep a space between them. A black wall of text won't get read.

     Easy choice there? The text on the right is spaced properly and bathed in "white space". Do the same to your sales letter to help your reader stay focused.

     I also recommend you use the smallest amount of fancy graphics as possible. Shh! Silence in the library. Don't distract your reader!

     A sneaky way of coming up with what to write about next is by askiing yoruself "So what?".

     Writing your sales letter this way will increase your sales! (so what?) Both you and your reader will gain much from it. (so what?) You can apply this technique now and get the unfair advantage!

  

     Other tricks to use in your sales letter have to respond to people's basic needs! Here's a list that you should aim to satisfy.

     Most people:

  •   like surprises,

  •  want an easier life,

  •  want to feel secure and safe,

  •  want to receive compliments for their achievements,

  •   are curious about things that could affect their current lifestyle,

  •  want to invest in their future,

  •   want the latest and newest things in life,

  •  want to solve their problems,

  •  want to make people around them happy,

  •  want to get over obstacles so they can achieve their goals.

     All you have to do is meet those needs! For example, if people want the latest and newest thing, then tell them your product or service has been just released. See how easy it is?

     Adapt each of those needs into your sales letter and it will get you results.

  

     You should always test your ads over and over again. Write more than one ad and send your visitors from a specific newsletter to a second ad and see how it works.

     Another dirty trick in all this is, your selling price. It may sound ridiculous but did you know that prices ending in 7 are selling more?

     For example, if you get your product selling at $17.97 instead of 17.98 you will get more sales. Or if you set your price at $24.97 instead of $24.96 you will still be getting more sales.

     And another secret you can do to increase your sales by ridiculous amounts is, increase your price!

     Again it may sound ridiculous, but it's true! Experimenting with pricing will get you some pretty unexpected results. Some are pleasant some are not.

     I guess people will think if you are expensive then your product must be the real deal, and worth the investment. Anyway, many rookies make the mistake of setting their price too low and as a result they fail!

     There is also the risk of damaging the value of the information by setting a price too low.

     Price your product right!

     Oh and just another important thing I should mention. At the end of every sales letter you should have a Terms of Service and a Privacy Notice. Take a look at other websites and make sure you adapt this to your own. It's the sort of information that should be there. You got templates for this when you purchased this e-book.
